The 2018 Texas Author Series, sponsored by the Friends of the Abilene Public Library and the Abilene Cultural Affairs Council, featuring four Texas authors.

Each program will feature a great author talk, copies of their books available for purchase, a book signing, and more.  All sessions are free for the community to attend at your Main Library (202 Cedar St.).

Summary: The story of football at predominantly black high schools before integration in the Prairie View Interscholastic League (the African American counterpart of the University Interscholastic League that excluded black schools from membership until 1967), which includes a section on Abilene’s Woodson Rams.  A great sports history book that ties in with Black History Month.

Summary: Book discussion will cover a series of three western novel thrillers featuring a female doctor on the Texas frontier.  Wrongfully accused of murder, Dr. Catherine Bennett is destined to hang unless she can disappear.  With the untamed territory of Colorado as her most likely refuge, she packs her physician’s kit and heads West.  But even with a new life and name, a female doctor with a bounty on her head can hide for only so long.
